The Acorn’s wonderful album Glory Hope Mountain has been selected to the Polaris Music Prize Long List! The Long List consists of the top 40 titles selected by the Polaris jury in the 1st round of voting.

The result of this second round of voting will be revealed as the Polaris Music Prize Short List, July 7th at the Drake Hotel, Toronto. This is the third year of the $20,000 Polaris Music Prize, which is awarded to the Canadian album of the year. The nominees and the winners are determined entirely by music journalists, broadcasters and bloggers. No industry personel vote in this process and records are judged solely on their artistic merit.

Last year’s winner was Patrick Watson for Close To Paradise. Our winner in 2006 was Final Fantasy for He Poo’s Clouds. The winner will be announced at this year’s Gala, September 29th at the Phoenix Concert Theater in Toronto.
