Surprise! Sally Shapiro’s Disco Romance Gets Double the Remix Treatment

Paper Bag Records is pleased once again to give the world more of Sally Shapiro! Sally's 2007 debut Disco Romance will now get double the remix treatment with the release of Remix Romance Vol. 2, a second remix record of Sally's acclaimed album, set for digital-only release soon. This second round of remixes is scheduled to follow April’s release of Remix Romance Vol. 1.

Written and produced by Johan Agebjörn, Disco Romance saw its breakthrough European release last year and has continued to meet with overwhelming worldwide praise. The LA Times and The Boston Globe both published rave reviews, and USA Today called it “ear candy, ethereal, featherweight dance pop.” Pitchforkmedia gave it an 8.5/10 and a place in the top 50 albums of 2007, while Spin gave it 4-star review.

As she previously admitted, Sally and Johan found it very difficult to decide upon a track-list due to the overwhelming volume of good quality remixes that she had to choose from for the original Remix Romance. There were over forty remixes to choose from and with Remix Romance Vol. 2, Sally vows that no first-rate remix will go unreleased!

Even more International artists/hardcore Shapiro fanatics were handpicked by Paper Bag Records and Shapiro’s producer Johan Agebjörn to be featured on the record. Among this fantastic selection of artists are Russian Futurists, Dntel, Solvent and Johan Agebjörn himself (who flaunts a Norwegian Electrojazz mix that had previously only been offered on the European release of Disco Romance). In addition to those tracks, Alexander Robotnick, famed old-school Italo-Disco producer, offers up a remix of “Anorak Christmas” that gives the song a fun 80's-prom-night twist all are sure to enjoy.

“It's kind of mad to release two remix albums, but I hope that people will agree with us that it was a good thing to do - Sally's voice seems to interest a lot of musicians to work with,” said Agebjörn.

“It's flattering of course, especially when it's producers that you admire,” he said.
