Posted Tue Jun 26, 11:45 by El Comandante
The Danish quartet Figurines are set to release the follow up to their acclaimed 2006 full-length Skeleton, with When The Deer Wore Blue on September 11th via Paper Bag Records in Canada/The Control Group in the U.S. When the Deer Wore Blue was recorded in Sweden and mastered in Chicago. This album finds Figurines exploring with greater depth their love of ‘60s rock from both sides of the Atlantic, favouring the rich harmonies and infectious melodies of such acts as Love, Zombies and The Beach Boys. The album is seeped in rich tones, lush arrangements, making it a perfect record to usher in the final days of summer.
Skeleton, earned critical praise including a feature in The New York Times and an 8.3 review from Pitchfork and Rolling Stone said, “These Danes sound a bit like Franz Ferdinand but much closer to The Strokes first album.” Figurines toured with Tapes n’ Tapes and Cold War Kids, winning over Canadian audiences with their impressive live show.
Figurines will give fans a sneak preview of When The Deer Wore Blue with the first single, “Hey, Girl”, out via iTunes August 7th. Fall tour dates are in the works and will be announced shortly.
